About

Ray Hendricks hiking on a mountain trail

I’m Ray, a genetics PhD student at the University of North Texas, and I’m moving into data engineering. My research uses the nematode C. elegans to study gene family evolution and stress response, and much of that work has meant writing code to wrangle sequencing and microscopy data into something I could analyze. Building those pipelines turned out to be the part I enjoyed most, so that’s where I’m heading next.

This blog is where I write about what I’m learning along the way, from data pipelines and tooling to the occasional bit of biology.
